fiberglass chopped strand mat, also known as CSM or simply fiberglass matting is the most established and ubiquitous reinforcement in composites. Chopped strand mat is a dry mat of randomly oriented glass strands, held together by some form of binder which breaks down as they are laminated. Chopped strand mat is low cost, easy to work with and extremely effective at creating strong, durable composite structures. Although superseded by woven glass or higher performance reinforcements such as carbon fiber in more demanding applications, chopped strand mat is still widely used in more traditional applications such as mold making, architectural moldings, enclosures, flat roofs, traditional fiberglass canoes, boat hulls and much more.

Although concise, our limited range of chopped strand mats cover the vast majority of requirements. Choose the 450gsm (13oz) emulsion bound mat for use with polyester and vinylester resin and 300gsm (9oz) powder bound mat for use with epoxy resin . Our lightweight 30g (0.8oz) glass tissue can be used with any resin system.
