This clever microbore vacuum fitting allows prepregs to be cured in a regular domestic oven, or an industrial oven without vacuum ports, without damage or modification to the oven.
Simply connect the vacuum bag to one side of the fitting and the vacuum pump to the other, then pass the microbore hose past the oven door seal and close the door.

This clever vacuum fitting has been developed to allow prepregs to be cured inside a conventional domestic oven (or industrial oven without vacuum ports) without modification or damage to the oven; ideal for experimenting with prepreg without investigating in a dedicated composites oven.
To cure prepregs correctly, the vacuum bagged component must be connected to an active vacuum line for the duration of the cure. In an oven designed for composites used, this is done by passing the vacuum through a vacuum port in the side of the oven, but in a conventional domestic oven, or industrial oven not designed for composites use, this normally means drilling a hole through the side of the oven, through which to pass the vacuum hose.
Our clever Oven Seal Breach Line uses a microbore PTFE hose which is small enough to pass over a conventional oven seal and flexible enough to follow the profile of the door closure, whilst still allowing the door to close and seal properly, allowing an active vacuum connection to be maintained inside a conventional oven without any modification required.
This fitting is included as standard in our Prepreg Carbon Fiber Evaluation Kit.
How to Use
The breach line has an 8mm (0.31") ID hosetail barb on either end and is designed to be fitted ‘inline’ with the vacuum hose, between the vacuum pump and the vacuum bag. Simply connect the vacuum hose from the pump to one side of the fitting, and the vacuum hose to the vacuum bag to the other side.
Position the Breach Line so that one end is inside the oven (connected to the vacuum bag) and the other end is on the outside of the oven, connected to the vacuum pump. The microbore hose is small enough for the oven seal to compress over it, and flexible enough to follow the profile of the door as it is closed.
