Medium weight 416gsm (12.3oz/yd²) carbon fiber cloth ideal for use as a backing layer when making larger carbon fiber parts or when building up a thicker laminate. Using a 12k 416gsm (12.3oz) carbon fiber cloth like this for backing layers will reduce lamination time and the material cost considerably. A single layer of 416gsm (12.3oz) cloth will add the strength and thickness to a laminate equivalent to 2 layers of 3k 210gsm (6.2oz) cloth.

Typical Uses

Use in conjunction with a 3k 210gsm (6.2oz) surface layer then 1 or more layers of 12k 416gsm (12.3oz) cloth to produce larger parts or thicker laminates. Also commonly used as the reinforcement/bulking layers for carbon fiber molds.

In some circumstances this 12k 416gsm (12.3oz) cloth can even be used as the surface layer on cosmetic parts where a larger weave pattern is desirable although care will need to be taken to ensure that the greater texture of this heavy weight carbon fiber cloth does not 'print through' making the surface of the part uneven.

This 416gsm (12.3oz) carbon fiber fabric roll is 1.25m (49") wide and the fabric is sold by the linear meter (1 meter = 1.09 yards). The unit price shown is for 1 linear meter but volume discounts automatically apply for larger quantities of fabric.
