Pultruded carbon fiber half-round section made using high strength carbon fiber and an epoxy resin matrix for maximum performance. This lightweight, precision section has a diameter of 3mm (0.118") and is very popular as a trailing edge section on model aircraft wings.
Being a pultrusion, 100% of the fibers run length-ways down the length of the profile, providing maximum stiffness in this direction.
Sold in a 1m (39") length.

Due to its incredible strength and light weight, half-round carbon fiber section is used in a wide range of applications including aerospace and motor racing but perhaps its most common use is in aero-modelling for leading edge reinforcement on depron and balsa wings, tails and fins. The 3mm (0.118") diameter means that it fits perfectly with 3mm (0.118") thick materials.
Our carbon fiber half-round rod is manufactured to engineering tolerances from pultruded unidirectional carbon fibers which means that all the strength of the rods runs laterally along their length.
This half-round rod is only available in a 1m (39") length
We only carry the half-round rod in this size which is a 3mm (0.118") diameter 1.5mm (0.059") radius making it ideal for edging 3mm (0.118") sheets
Typical Uses
Pultruded carbon fiber sections are suitable for use in:
Further Information
How to Cut and Shape
This very thin 3mm (0.118") carbon fiber rod can cut using any basic cutting tools (knife, cutting disc, fine saw blade).

Many people prefer the natural finish of these carbon products, however if you wish to paint them for your specific application then you can do so. A light key with a fine abrasive paper like a 1200 grit wet and dry paper and a thorough degrease and clean using mild detergent or an alcohol wipe should be all that is needed to prepare the surface for paint.
