290g (8.6oz) Plain Weave Woven Glass Cloth 1000mm (39")

Traditional 'woven roving' low-cost woven glass reinforcement for general fiberglassing. Woven roving makes a good alternative to chopped strand mat (CSM) in many applications where its woven construction produces a stronger/stiffer laminate. Being a woven cloth it uses no binder and so is compatible with all resin systems, including epoxy.

1m (39") wide. sold by the linear meter or in full box quantities.

290gsm (8.6oz/yd²) plain weave woven rovings (woven glass fabric) is the most common and cost effective fabric reinforcement used in composites. Woven glass has superior performance to chopped strand matt and can bring many of the structural advantage of a woven reinforcement (like carbon fiber) for a fraction of the cost.

Use woven glass to reinforce composites parts, either used in conjunctions with more advanced reinforcements such as carbon fiber or Kevlar or on its own. Woven glass can also be used to reinforce molds.

Typical Uses

Our woven 'E' glass does not include any chemical binders and therefore is suitable for use with any resin system including epoxy, polyester and vinylester.

  • Fiberglass parts including kayak/boat hulls
  • Fiberglass (GRP/FRP) sheet
  • Add low cost additional reinforcement to carbon fiber or Kevlar parts
  • Fiberglass mold making

How to Buy

This 290gsm (8.55oz/yd²) woven glass cloth is 1m (39") wide and the fabric is sold by the linear meter (1 meter = 1.09 yards). The unit price shown is for 1 linear meter, volume discounts automatically apply for larger quantities of fabric. In the 'Qty' box, enter the number of linear meters you require.

Small Quantities are Folded

Woven glass reinforcement is not considered a cosmetic reinforcement and, as such, small quantities - up to 5m (5.5yd) - will be carefully folded in a pack. This avoids long package surcharges and therefore reduces the shipping price you will pay and does not affect the performance of the material.

Orders for quantities in excess of 5m (5.5yd) will be supplied on a roll.

If you need your fabric to be supplied on a roll for a particular application then please ensure you place an order for 6m (6.6yd) or more.

Can’t find the answer you’re looking for?Ask our technical team a question.

For wet-lay lamination you will use approximately the same weight of resin as the weight of the fabric. For example, with a 200gsm cloth, for 1 square metre you will have 200g of fabric and thus will need 200g of resin to wet it out, plus a small amount of wastage for the brush and mixing pot.

You can purchase a sample of our glass cloth here.

The manufacturer has not been able to provide any specific CTE data for the woven glass.  However, e-glass, which is what this fabric is made from, has a nominal CTE of 5.4 µm/m-°C for temperatures between -30 and 250°C.

Yes these rollers are ideal for spreading resins over woven fibreglass especially for large layups.

Yes, you could use this woven glass in conjunction with carbon fibre reinforcement to reduce the overall cost of a carbon fibre sheet. It would of course then be a carbon/glass hybrid sheet and the resulting sheet would reduced mechanical performance compared to a 100% carbon reinforcement sheet but it certainly could be used together with carbon and would reduce the overall cost.
