Alufiber metallic coated Fabric 2/2 Twill 290g/m2 (8.55oz/yd²).

This fabric is a metallic coated fiber and although still a high performance reinforcement, it is primarily used as a surface layer. Due to its unique aesthetics, this material is often refered to as 'Silver Carbon Fiber'

How to Buy

This silver woven glass roll is 1m (39") wide and the fabric is Sold by the linear meter (1 meter = 1.1 yards). The unit price shown is for 1 linear meter but volume discounts automatically apply for larger quantities of fabric.

Please purchase the number of linear meters you require. When purchasing multiple meters the fabric will be supplied in one continuous length on a roll.

...instead of the black carbon fibre fabric that comes with the kit?

Yes, you can certainly 'skin' with the Alufibre fabric (we have many customers who have done a great job of this) however, ideally, instead of a black basecoat to stick the Alufibre to, it would be preferable to have a silver basecoat or a white basecoat. This is because you will see tiny dots of the underlying colour through the gaps in the weave and so it's important that the colour of the part underneath is as close as possible to the colour of the fabric you're using. In the case of black carbon fibre we use a black basecoat. In the case of Alifibre it would be best to paint your part white or silver first and then use some of the clear resin (instead of the black basecoat) to stick the Alufibre down with. For this reason, I would suggest buying the Alifibre, clear XCR resin and then the abrasive papers separately, rather than buying the Skinning Starter Kit.

No, sorry, the Alufibre fabric is only available at 1m width. You can have any length of the material but we can't go any wider I'm afraid.
